Dad was always very positive about New Year. When he was in Chadderton he would always stay up to 'let the New Year in.' I think it was the international aspect of New Year that he liked as well as marking the event with neighbours and phoning family with New Year wishes. And of course I shall be thinking of him again tomorrow when the Vienna Philharmonic New Year concert is broadcast.
